Organic & qualitative ingredients
We source ingredients as locally as possible while staying realistic in terms of production availabilities. As an example, our walnuts are sourced from Belgium and North of France, while maple syrup comes from Canada.
We also give a lot of attention to the social footprint from our raw ingredients. As an exemple, the cashew nuts used in our recipes are coming from farms respecting Human Rights and fair compensation to the farmers.
This is a day-to-day fight as organic ingredients availability and price are subject to high market fluctuations and we sometimes have to find last minute solutions to ensure our production engagements. However, this is a fight we are entitled to lead to respect our conscious eating mission.
Local production
Our granola is baked in our atelier in Kortenberg, close to Brussels. Four bakers are working every weekday to produce our delicious recipes imagined by Amélie.
The baked granola is then either put into reusable buckets to be sold as bulk in organic shops, or is packed into sustainable packaging in our own atelier.
Sustainable Packaging
Our packaging is compostable and recyclable. The inner plastic bag is made of PLA (bio-plastic) and the outer-carton is made of FSC Mix. The ink on our packaging is also biodegradable, made of soya. Our packaging is thus completely recyclable.
What is PLA ? Instead of using plastic made from petrochemicals and fossil fuels, compostable plastics are derived from renewable materials like corn, potato, and tapioca starches, cellulose, soy protein, and lactic acid. Compostable plastics are non-toxic and decompose back into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass when composted.
What is FSC mix ? A mix means at least 70% of the wood in a product comes from FSC-certified or recycled material; while 30% is made of controlled wood. FSC helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife who call them home. So you can keep your life full of forest products while keeping our forests full of life.
Last but not least, our recent packaging change helped us to increase our packed granola lifetime to 1 year, leading to less product waste and a longer preserved crunch!
Ps: 30% of our granola is sold in bulk - because the best waste is no waste :-)
Societal commitments
Our societal commitments are reflected by inclusion at our stakeholder level. Our delicious granola is carefully packed by a sheltered workshop, providing work to disabled people & people in a reintegration process.
In the past months & years, we have donated a % of our sales to: MamaBW providing shelter and support to single mothers in need, Vie d'enfant giving access to education and schooling to children and Hocus Pocus building an adapted swimming pool for disabled children & adults.
We have also supported teams with samples: Handicap International raising funds by running the Brussels 20km, Zonta Gent promoting women empowerment worldwide, Basisschool Hertog Jan promoting health at school, Enfants du juge organising youth camps and Brussels Hospital to motivate teams during the COVID pandemic.
